Peter Berrang

Peter Berrang is a serial entrepreneur who has founded and run multiple successful companies on Vancouver Island. With a background in Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics, Peter holds over 30 patents in a broad array of disciplines including magnetics, fiber optics, semiconductor lasers, neural implants, chemical structures, and high strength fabrics.

Dr. Jeremy Wulff

Dr. Jeremy Wulff is the Scientific Co-Founder of XLYNX Materials and a Full Professor in the Chemistry Department at the University of Victoria. Jeremy’s laboratory pioneered the invention of the world’s first universal crosslinking reagents for polymers; a breakthrough published in Science (2019) that serves as the foundational technology for XLYNX.

With over 90 published papers and 12 patents to his name, Jeremy is a recognized leader in the global scientific community. His career is marked by prestigious honors, including the UVic Faculty of Science Research Excellence and Teaching Excellence awards, as well as a Canada Research Chair and a Michael Smith Health Research BC career award.

At the University of Victoria, Jeremy manages over $7 million in operating funds, leading a research team of postdocs and students. His work extends across a diverse global network of collaborators, applying his discoveries to fields as varied as protein crystallography and high-performance anti-ballistic armour. At XLYNX, he provides the deep scientific oversight necessary to push the boundaries of what modern materials can achieve.

David Green

David Green is a director and investor in XLYNX Materials. He has a degree in Engineering Physics, and an interdisciplinary Ph.D. from UBC. David has founded several technology companies, including Carmanah Technologies which grew to be Victoria’s largest tech company at the time, with about 200 employees. He holds several patents and has about 25 scientific publications. He currently invests in promising local technology companies, and has served on boards of publicly-listed and venture-backed companies as well as non-profits. David has a certification as a director from the Rotman School of Business (ICD.D).

Colin Harris

Colin Harris is recognized as one of Western Canada’s most successful deep tech entrepreneurs. After graduating from UBC with a degree in Engineering Physics, Colin began his career in semiconductor chip design before moving to PMC-Sierra in 1992. During his distinguished tenure, which included roles as VP of IC Technology and Chief Operating Officer, he helped scale the company into a global semiconductor leader.

A dedicated mentor and investor within the advanced technology ecosystem, Colin actively supports early-stage ventures through the Creative Destruction Lab (CDL) and has guided numerous startups through successful commercialization and exits. His global industry leadership includes serving seven years on the board of the Global Semiconductor Association and chairing the Fabless Semiconductor Association’s (FSA) Standard Foundry Process Qualification (SFPQ) Committee. Colin also holds five patents in microchip technology.

Mary McFarland

Mary McFarland brings a combination of science and business experience to her role on the XLYNX board. She holds an MSc in Chemistry and an MBA, and has worked in research and development, sales and marketing, administration, and as a CEO in such diverse fields as paints and adhesives, oceanography, medical devices, e-business, and program management.
